In conclusion, after our organizing tips for the bedroom, you will be well on your way to doing the entire house with these useful DIY room organizing tips and keeping your bedroom clean!
Similarly to “bedroom organization”, we love our bathroom to feel like a spa and bedroom to feel like a luxury hotel. I mean, who wouldn’t want to come home after a long day at work and be able to relax and unwind in the comfort of their own home.
Tip 1: Take everything off of the floor.
We so easily can overlook such an important step but it can make a huge difference in how your bedroom feels. Have cords laying all over the floor or possibly your wifi router is on the floor? Store it in a basket. Make sure you take everything off the floor and give it a designated place that has a purpose.
For example: Suitcases are just laying around because you just got back from a trip? Clean out your suitcase and place it in a storage closet or under your bed. You want to create open floor space.
Tip 2: Declutter all surfaces.
Declutter all surfaces like your bedside table or on top of your bedroom drawers. Ask yourself this question, is this the proper place for this item? Does this item belong here? If the answer is no, immediately remove it.
Once you have done that to all the items from your “flat surfaces” inside your bedroom that quickly can get cluttered. Find a designated place for it or simply get rid of it. We break this down in further detail in tip 3!
Tip 3: If you don’t use it, lose it.
This bedroom organization tip is more focused on decluttering than organizing but we think it is important. If you just have too much stuff, no matter how well you organize it – your bedroom will still feel like “organized clutter’. This is the opposite of what we are trying to accomplish.
For instance, you haven’t worn that sweater someone had given to you as a gift and it’s kinda just sitting in your closet taking up space. Donate it.
Possibly your style has evolved and you’re hoping that in 10 years, that dress you have will come back “in style”. Sell it.
We believe that if it doesn’t serve an immediate purpose in your life, then sell it, donate it, or give it away.
Tip 4: Tidy up often!
Keeping a space, any space in your home tidy and clean often actually increases the chances you will keep it clean. Going back to our previous tip about “making the bed every morning” or simply putting things back where they belong – it increases the chances of other similar positive decisions to follow.
For example, create a routine where every Sunday where you dust and vacuum your bedroom. The more you do small decisions to maintain an organized clean bedroom, the more likely you are to continue to do so. Our suggestion is to start “small” and keep the habit going.
Tip 5: Put it back where it belongs
Might sound easy enough, however developing the habit to put something back where it belongs can be tricky – not to mention take time. By organizing your bedroom to have designated areas where these “belong” allows you to create the routine and habit to put them back. Start with every morning by making your bed.
For example: After going for a run, place your shoes back, and your dirty clothes in the laundry basket. Similarly, you can apply this to just about everything in life. After applying makeup, put them back inside your makeup bag not laying on the bathroom counter.
